Title:  Why to Give
Scripture:  2 Corinthians 8:1-15

Description:  One of the main reasons Paul wrote this letter was to urge the Corinthians to send money to impoverished Christians in Jerusalem. But his approach wasn't what you might expect. He doesn't scold them. He doesn't shame them. He just reminds them of God's grace to them.

Title:  The Temple of God
Scripture:  2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1

Description:  No one can live without hope. That's why Peter begins his letter with this profile of Christian hope--a secure hope because it begins and ends with God. Paul confronts Christians with a direct challenge to be holy--set apart from anything that stands against God. But that challenge is rooted in a precious, mind-bending promise. God has promised to live among his people.

Title:  Godly Sincerity
Scripture:  2 Corinthians 1:12-22

Description:  One of the main reasons Paul wrote this letter was to defend his own sincerity against people who thought he was speaking from both sides of his mouth. And sincerity is certainly worth defending. You want to know that someone means what he says, that he's not holding anything back, and that you can trust him to follow through. But sincerity is easier to require from someone else than to produce consistently in ourselves. Paul explains how the grace of God is the only sure path to the sincere lives we want.
