What to Expect

What does a typical Sunday morning look like?

Each Sunday at 10:30am we have our corporate worship gathering. This is the central meeting for our church every week. It’s where we come together to encourage each other, to listen to God’s word to us, and to respond to him based on what he has told us. Our time together is always built around the God’s Word..

We pray the Word. Prayers of praise based on what the Bible says about who God is and what he has done. Prayers of confession and thanksgiving based on what we know of our sin and God’s promise to forgive us through Jesus. And prayers of supplication, where we ask God for what we need, as the Bible invites us to do.

We sing the Word. Our songs unpack the good news about Jesus and give us a chance to respond to that news. They’re aimed both at God, in praise, and at one another, to remind each other to trust his promises (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16).

We hear the Word. At the center of each gathering is a sermon that takes the main point of a passage and makes it the main point of that morning’s message. Our goal is to understand what God has said and how it affects our lives.

We see the Word. In the visible signs of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, God’s people are given a visible reminder of what he has accomplished on their behalf.

I’m visiting, should I take communion?

We observe the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month. If you are a member in-good-standing of another gospel-preaching church elsewhere where you regularly gather and are welcome to take communion there, we would gladly invite you to join us in this family meal! If you don’t understand yourself to be a Christian, or if you are not currently a member of a likeminded church, we would ask that you allow the elements to pass you by and use the time to reflect on what is being taught instead. If you have questions, we’d love to hear from you!

What classes are available on Sunday Mornings?

WHERE CAN I TAKE MY CHILDREN?

We have childcare during the worship gathering for infants through PreK, please email mail@edgefieldnashville.org with questions.

What should I wear to a Sunday Service?

Most folks at Edgefield dress casually on Sundays, but you’ll see everything from t-shirts and jeans to dresses and sport jackets. We enjoy a relaxed atmosphere where you can be yourself, so wear whatever suits you.

Is your facility wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Our main entrance and worship space are accessible, and we would be glad to assist you upon arrival. If you plan to visit, feel free to let us know ahead of time so we can be ready to welcome you.

Please note that our building currently does not have a wheelchair-accessible restroom on the main floor. An accessible restroom is available in our fellowship hall. If you need to use it, please let one of our safety team members know before exiting through the main entrance on Russell Street, as the fellowship hall entrance is typically locked. A member of our team will meet you outside, unlock the door, and help direct you to the restroom.

If you have any questions about accessibility or would like to let us know you're coming, please email us at mail@edgefieldnashville.org. We would be glad to help make your visit as comfortable as possible.
