Membership

Church membership makes our commitment to Christ and to one another visible through the local church. It is a joyful privilege that draws us into one another’s lives for the sake of the gospel. Our prayer is that membership at Edgefield Church would display the love of Christ to one another and to our neighbors. We would love for you to consider joining us.

How to JoiN

  1. Attend Regularly

The best way to get to know Edgefield– and for us to get to know you– is simply to gather with us regularly. Our Sunday worship gathering is the center of our life together, but our Sunday School hour and monthly prayer gatherings are also meaningful ways to build relationships and become more connected to the church family.

  2. Introducing Edgefield (Membership Class)

We host our membership class every other month. The class meets over two Sundays from 8:00–10:00 a.m. before the worship gathering. During the class, you’ll learn more about who we are as a church, what we believe, and what life together at Edgefield looks like. We ask that you complete the class before scheduling a membership interview with an elder. To sign up for our next membership class, click here.

  3. Membership Application Form

Following the membership class, those interested in pursuing membership at Edgefield should fill out our Membership Information Form. This form helps our elders begin getting to know you and starts the membership process. Before your interview, we ask that you look through our Statement of Faith and Church Covenant. If you have questions about either document, we would be glad to discuss them with you during the interview.

  4. Membership Interview

Once you’ve completed the previous steps, we will schedule a membership interview with one of our pastors. This is an encouraging opportunity for us to hear your testimony, affirm the gospel together, and discuss how Edgefield can faithfully care for you.

The interview typically lasts about one hour for individuals and about ninety minutes for married couples.

  5. Elder Recommendation

Following the interview, the elders will review your application at a regularly scheduled elders’ meeting. Upon their recommendation, your membership will then be presented to the congregation for approval.

  6. Congregational Vote

At a members’ meeting, a pastor will briefly share portions of your testimony with the congregation. The members will then vote to receive you into membership, affirming their commitment to love, encourage, and care for you as we follow Christ together.
